I love the Murray trade, at his worst he's still an upgrade on Nilsson and at his best, he can win you series. Will be a great option while we develop Gus and Daccord.

Looking over what happened last night, I'd say a few things....

#1. I was hoping for Byfield but I am much more excited about Stutzle then I thought I'd be.
#2. Sanderson should be a good 3/4 D in the next few years... But I still can't figure out why they didn't get Drysdale, that guy would have been our #2D perfectly. But hey, we got the second best D in the top 10.
#3. I'm really excited we picked up Greig. He was projected to be in the teen's during the draft so I'm very happy about that.
#4. I still hate those jersey's
#5. I am absolutely shocked how far Rossi and Perfetti dropped so far down.

Great draft thus far, and great low-risk move. If he doesn't work out, all it costs is cap space (which is needed to get to the floor), a mid-2nd rounder, and a B- prospect. Great move. If Murray is indeed good, great asset acquisition to be moved or kept if they are contending. If he doesn't work out, well, will help the Sens have 1-2 more bad seasons to really rebuild. I wasn't a fan of Dorion's Stone/Karlsson/Duchene moves, but they are turning out better and better. Go Sens, my 2nd favorite Canadian team!

Who is Gruden? A roster spot move or a legit prospect?

Meh - Murray actually seems to be in decline even at 26 - maybe he can bounce back. What about the great performance that Hogberg had last year ? Is he not expected to continue that level of play?

They have three goalies in ottawa right?
Murray
Hogberg/nilson

Belleville
Gustavsson
Daccord

They cant cant send hogberg down without crowing the crease there too.

Hard to trade Nislon with the goalie market saturated as it is.

Sens take a Finn with an unpronounceable name (Robby yxxxxx). Big kid, rugged winger. Most noticeable, another younger player (August birthday). 3 out of the Sens first 4 picks are kids who are on the younger side of the draft board.

Love this. Most of the younger kids never don't begin to crawl up the draft board until the last third and post season.

I would assume that Nilson is still having concussion issues. Wouldn't want to have him out and Gustavsson/Daccord on the bench as backup for most of the season.

If you are going to act like the smartest person on this site, the least you could do is use proper grammar and punctuation.

Don't mind the Murray trade. Will have to see what they sign him too to. I wonder if he will steal the odd game to make next years lottery odds worse and if his peak will be over by the time this team should be good. There is already evidence he is trending down.

Personally, would have used the pick/asset to move up in round one (nab Lapierre) and sign a UFA goalie for the short term.

Love this pick, as it's taking a chance on talent. Scouting reports say he's got one of the best shots in the draft.

with nilsson still showing concussion symptoms, great move by PD

didn't have to give up 33, and gruden was not even a top 10 prospect in our depth chart.

time to start getting some right shots imo frig we have a ton of left shooting forwards and d.

like what is our right shooting forward depth chart , white/connor/batherson/ Davidson/???

I realize guys can play off wing, but in a predominantly Left shooting depth chart we just added 4 more left shooters

Really smart drafting. Just imagine if you these kids were born a couple months later they would only be draft eligible next year.

Agree. Take a chance with kids with great natural skill. Rest of the game can come around. Sounds similar to Hoffman....

Also Ottawa has taken 3 big kids who have a reputation for liking the physical play. The other pick is Greig. He has a smaller frame but has the reputation of playing with a nasty edge (Brad Marchand was the comparable).

No doubt Dorion knows what he wants to do.

John Gruden was a 4th round pick in 2018, who shifted over from the NCAA to the London Knights (OHL) due to ice time concerns, and responded with 30G in his first OHL season. He was also a late cut from the USA WJC team last year. Decent mid-level prospect, may have 2nd/3rd line upside if it all comes together, but we'll see how he transitions to the AHL.

Right, but do you necessarily do that at #33, knowing you have multiple picks later on where this player might still be on the board? Leaving guys like Mysak, Peterka, O'Rourke, Evangelista, Grans, and Evangelista on the board just seems like a relatively high opportunity cost.

Also, I have to pat myself on the back for calling Tyler Kleven as one of their 2nd round picks. I've been dropping his name for weeks.

Kleven is 6' 4" and 200 lbs.

He is at North Dakota along with JBD, Pinto and Jake Sanderson. He and Sanderson are roommates.

Good points. Know nothing about those prospects accept that Peterka is super fast.

Klevan sounds meh. I didn't know North Dakota was the Sens farm team....

There's the trade up we all expected.

Dorion really likes his US Development / PLayaers that play together it looks like.
